January might be required by all in the northern hemisphere as the year’s most depressing month, but no-one seems to have given Toronto this memo. If you’re planning a trip to the city during the first month of the new year, then you’ll find plenty of things to keep you entertained, engaged, and having fun. Coming up we have a festival that promises to bring some light to winter, the annual women’s march, and a movie screening that’ll delight the music lovers. Check out all the details below.

Brightening up winter

People like winter, but up to a point: they enjoy the scarves and coziness, could live without the darkness. Toronto Light Fest 2019 plans to get rid of this problem. Taking place from January 18 through to March 3, you’ll be able to enjoy the city’s Distillery Historic District through a lens never seen before.

For the women

There have been great leaps forward when it comes to women’s rights, but there’s still a long way to go. You can show your support for the cause by attending Women's March 2019, which will take place downtown on January 19. There’ll be talks, marches, and positive vibes all around.

Music and film

Love music history, and especially the story of the Newport Folk Festival, which brought together some of music’s most iconic figures? Then get yourself down to Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema on January 19 - they’ll be showing the documentary of the concert.

Only the best hotel in Toronto will do for your trip to the city. Book your stay at the Best Western Plus Travel Hotel Toronto Airport, and not only will you be staying within easy reaching distance of downtown and the airport, you’ll also be able to enjoy amenities that include a complimentary hot breakfast and fitness centre.
