CMW Fest Features More than 1000 Bands | May 6 – 10

A top annual event for the last three decades, Canadian Music Week continues to grow in size and scope. Taking place from May 6th to 10th, CMW encompasses 3 distinct festivals: the Canadian Music Fest, the Canadian Comedy Fest and the Canadian Music Week Film Fest. And here’s the best part: you only need to buy one wristband to get into all of the events!

The music festival is the largest in Canada, featuring concerts from more than 1000 artists over 5 nights at 60 different venues in downtown Toronto. It’s the perfect opportunity to check out up-and-coming talent as well as seeing some of your favourite bands.

Headliners at this year’s CMW music festival include two of Canada’s most decorated indie acts: Tegan and Sara and City and Colour. The female contingent is especially strong this year, with international-minded rapper-performer MIA, folk songstress Neko Case and UK soul artists Ellie Goulding all topping the bill.

Just as impressive as the music festival is the comedy festival, which includes a star-studded lineup of stand-up acts including Canadian legend Tom Green who, in addition to doing live stand-up, will hot the 2014 Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards on Thursday May 8th.

For some stimulating cinema, be sure to check out the CMW film festival which will feature a screening of the as-yet-unreleased Jimi Hendrix biopic All is By My Side, starring Outkast’s Andre 3000 as Hednrix.

CMW offers much for music industry insiders and aspiring musicians as well, including conferences, Q&A sessions, workshops and more.
